1948 Chicago The Beautiful

I grew up on the South Side of Chicago. I love and miss the city like it is an old friend. I got to live downtown for awhile, and it was an experience I am forever grateful for. I saw this old travel movie about Chicago posted on my Dad's Facebook page and had to share. Watch around minute 5 to see how beautifully blue Lake Michigan was. Enjoy, and have a great weekend!

Wow, Michelle. I did appreciate your second posting on pain, but thia time, I uttered the "Wow" aloud - at the "1948 Chicago the Beautiful" video. Not even the fact that my memory must not be large enough to air this without pauses, since every few seconds it had to renew.

We were residents of Chicago from 1954 to 1965, while I was part of the Radio Ministry of the Moody Bible Instute's WMBI. Which reminds me, Were you aware that Bill Pearce died Tuesday night, just 15 miles from me? We were friends for over 50 years, and I was with him several times the past few months.

Any way that video can be provided in iTunes form? or MP3? I'd love to have a copy. Excuse the long response. Grandpa Mike

Michelle I have been following your page and that of Grampa Mike for about four weeks. I have enjoyed visiting you and your family through your pages. Is Grampa Mike related to you?

I graduated from Moody Bible Institute 25 years ago and recently, during Founders Week, went to my reunion. I had a great time in Chicago and I even had a chance to return to the top floors of Crowell Hall. I remember riding the elevator to the 12th floor years ago and seeing the WMBI sound wagon sitting just inside. Many of the old antiques are still just as they were 30 years ago.

I was saddened to hear that Bill Pearce died on Tuesday. I had been thinking of him just today. I have followed him and his ministry for many years. I remember seeing Bill at the Clock Tower Museum in Rockford, IL many years ago driving a Jeep with Night Sounds on his automobile plates. He seemed to be always young at heart. He will be missed.

The Grace of Pain To set the record straight, I need to have full disclosure about my own personal process with pain. I do have chronic pain, but not to the degree that most people who struggle with chronic pain do. I have experienced enough to think about it a lot, learn a ton, and grow in some ways I would never be able to grow otherwise.
