Jimmy Carter is my Hero
I love Jimmy Carter. He's got some serious guts. Rob and I had the unbelievable opportunity to eat lunch with he and his wife a few years back, and just conversing with him for that hour or so really gave me vision and perspective on how I want to live out my "retired" days.
We hear so much about "Saving Dafur." I writhe inside of myself every time I hear that phrase. It's hip, it's "what's in". The trouble is that the government in Sudan does not want to save itself. Rob has been there. He walked around the 2 million+ person refugee camps in Khartoum. It is the worst place he has ever been.
The whole world wants to help Sudan. The only way it will ever receive help is when people like Jimmy Carter show up , literally push the authorities that are blocking aid out of the way and say, "I am here to help." Get out of the way!
I guarantee Americans are not heartless. The second the government of Sudan allows help in, Americans will be the first in line to help. Until then, our prayers will soften those hard hearts. And, we can pray for more people like Jimmy Carter to show up, and shove some people out of the way! Check out this article!
